Indiana Credit Union League Director Bill Yohler dies
He gave more than 50 years of service to Hoosier credit unions

The Indiana Credit Union League today mourns the loss of a long time director who passed away over the weekend. Bill Yohler, 80, had been in intensive care for a number of weeks following surgery. A League director since 1959, Yohler was inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame in 1989. At the national level, he served as a CUNA National Director for more than 30 years working on the bylaws committee and the bankruptcy committee for that organization.

"Bill's commitment to the credit union cause is reflected in the number of years he has given of his time and talents at all levels in the credit union movement and his passion for the people helping people philosophy, "said John McKenzie, President of the Indiana Credit Union League. "He was admired as a dedicated husband, father and community leader and friend who we were all very fortunate to know."

Yohler became involved in the credit union movement when he was asked to serve on the credit committee at WGE FCU in Muncie, Ind., in 1944. he served on the credit union's board of directors for more than 50 years, most of those years as board treasurer. He retired as corporate credit manager for Borg Warner Corporation in 1987.
