The Indiana Credit Union League recently presented Ralph Marvel, chairman of
the board of directors at Central Federal Credit Union in Indianapolis, with the
Volunteer Achievement Award for 2002.
The Volunteer Achievement Award recognizes credit union volunteers who have
given of themselves to promote the credit union ideal and to better the credit
union movement in Indiana.
Marvel's experience spans several Indiana credit unions including Clark
Equipment FCU, Madison County FCU and Avondale FCU. While at each of these
credit unions, he was involved in numerous product and service additions, growth
strategies and general improvements that resulted in allowing the credit unions
to better serve their members.
Marvel has worked with credit unions for more than 30 years in various
positions at the trade association. Many Indiana credit unions are in existence
today because of his work. Between 1963 and 1975, Ralph organized 60 to 70
credit unions then nurtured them through their first years to ensure their
success.
The award presentation was part of the Indiana Credit Union League's annual
meeting and convention, which was held in Indianapolis September 19-21.
