Indiana credit unions thank Rep. Burton for CURIA co-sponsorship, long-time support with special resolution
August 23, 2005

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana credit union representatives met with Congressman Dan Burton (R-5) on Aug. 17 at FORUM CU to present him with a framed resolution of thanks for his long-standing support of credit unions. League President John McKenzie began the presentation with words of appreciation, including, "There are just two legislators out of the 435 members of the House of Representatives who have been original co-sponsors of H.R. 1151, the House version of bankruptcy reform, and CURIA with Congressman Burton being one of them."

In presenting the congressman with the framed resolution, League Chairman Angie Dufour of Central FCU thanked him for his continued, unwavering support of Indiana’s credit unions.

"I go way back with credit unions," said the Congressman, who has been a friend of Indiana’s credit unions since his days in the Indiana State Senate (1969-70 and 1981-82) and the Indiana House of Representatives (1967-68 and 1977-80) and in Congress since 1983. He is a longtime credit union supporter and was named Outstanding Hoosier Legislator by the League in 1991 and again in 1998.
