Indiana credit unions honored for community service, financial literacy and philosophy in action
September 25, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS— At the Indiana Credit Union League’s annual Chairman’s Awards Banquet on September 23, many credit unions were honored for their projects in three awards programs: The Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility, The Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action, and The Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award. Those entries receiving first place awards in their asset size category were forwarded on to national competition. The following credit unions received awards:

Dora Maxwell Awards
The Dora Maxwell Award recognizes outstanding efforts of social responsibility and community service.

Less than $5 million
First Place: Great Horizons FCU, Hammond

$20 - $50 million
First Place: Evansville FCU, Hammond
Second Place: Unicorp FCU, St. John

$50-$100 million
First Place: General CU, Fort Wayne

$100 - $200 million
First Place: Fort Financial FCU, Fort Wayne

$200 - $500 million
First Place: Elkhart County Farm Bureau CU, Goshen
Second Place: Bayer FCU, Elkhart
Honorable Mention: Finance Center FCU, Indianapolis & Professional FCU, Fort Wayne

$500 million and more
First Place: FORUM CU, Fishers
Second Place: Evansville Teachers FCU, Evansville
Honorable Mention: Indiana Members CU, Indianapolis

Louise Herring Award
The Louise Herring Award recognizes credit union philosophy in action.

$100 million or more in assets
First Place: Finance Center FCU, Indianapolis

Alphonse Desjardins Award
The Alphonse Desjardins Award recognizes excellence in youth financial literacy efforts.

$20 - $80 million
First Place: Perfect Circle CU, Hagerstown
Second Place: Evansville FCU, Evansville

$200 million or more in assets
First Place: Bayer FCU, Elkhart
