Barbara Berghoff inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame

INDIANAPOLIS— Professional FCU President/CEO Barbara Berghoff was inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame during the Indiana Credit Union League’s statewide convention in September. She was honored at the Chairman’s Awards Banquet at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis on Sept. 23. Berghoff, who is immediate past board chair of Mid-States Corporate FCU, has been on the corporate’s board since 1997 when it was called INDICORP, continuing as a director after the 1999 merger with Mid-States Corporate FCU. She continues as a director of Members United Corporate FCU, the newly named organization which is a result of the merger between Mid-States and Empire Corporate FCU. For Mid-States, Berghoff has held the positions of board secretary and vice chair.

In addition to her role at Mid-States, Berghoff is vice chairman of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation, secretary of the Hoosier CUES board of directors and a member of the League’s Audit & Finance Committee. She served for nine years on the board of the Northeastern Chapter of Credit Unions and three years on the Education Credit Union Council. Berghoff is also active in the Fort Wayne business community, where she is a director of the Finance and Investment Committee for the University of St. Francis and chairman of the board for Consumer Credit Counseling Service. She is a past recipient of the League’s Professional Achievement Award, the Fort Wayne YWCA’s Women of Achievement Award, and has had the honor of being named Fort Wayne’s Highest Ranking Female Banking Executive.

About the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame:
The Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame was established in 1989 by the Indiana Credit Union League to recognize credit union leaders who have given outstanding long-term service to the Indiana credit union movement. To be inducted, individuals must:

  • Have selflessly given exceptional time, effort and talent to the betterment of the Indiana credit union movement.
  • Have been involved in the credit union movement for more than 20 years.
  • Understand and personify the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People,” and actively demonstrate loyalty to the entire organized credit union movement.
  • Have demonstrated organizational leadership, high professional standards, volunteer contributions and technical innovations in credit union service.
