Three to be inducted into Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame
June 27, 2007
INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Credit Union League Board has selected three
individuals to be inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame during the
League convention in September. Immediate Past League Chairman Angie Dufour,
Tech CU President Mike Hussey and DeKalb Financial CU President Ron Linstromberg
will be honored at the Chairman’s Awards Banquet on Sept. 15 at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel.
With nearly three decades in the credit union business, Dufour served as a
League director beginning in 1999 and was chairman from 2004-2006. She was also
a charter director of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation and served as
secretary of that organization until earlier this year. Dufour was president of
the former Cooperatives FCU and was on the management team at Link FCU. And, she
was a volunteer for Central FCU until it was merged into Indiana University EFCU
in March.
“What started as a job at a credit union became a career at a credit union then
became a passion for helping members realize their financial goals—at a credit
union,” said Dufour. “I am honored to be recognized for the work I loved doing
for so many years.”
Mike Hussey has been president of Tech CU since 1978 and was also Chairman of
the INDICORP board in 1999. He received the League’s Professional Achievement
Award in 1994. Hussey has been a key leader in the early development and
continuing success of Indiana’s shared branching system. He was instrumental in
opening the state’s first shared branch service center; and today there are more
than 60 credit unions involved, which represent 58 percent of Indiana’s 2.2
million credit union members. Hussey has also been active in the Hoosier CUES
Council and the Northwest Chapter.
Ron Linstromberg’s credit union career has spanned 31 years—29 of which he spent
as president of DeKalb Financial CU, a credit union that celebrated its 75th
anniversary this year. Linstromberg was also chairman of the INDICORP board in
1998. He is a longtime member of the League’s Governmental Affairs Committee and
has traveled to Washington, D.C., on behalf of credit unions many times over the
years.
“It is an honor to be selected to the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame,” said
Linstromberg. “I owe this honor to the many credit union people both in our
credit union and at other credit unions who have advised me.”
The Indiana credit union system is a better place for all because of these three
individuals,” said Indiana League President John McKenzie. Their career
achievements and leadership have made a tremendous difference for members at
their own credit unions and for all credit unions across the state.”
League Chairman Jenny Budreau of FORUM CU agrees. “This group’s collective
accomplishments and contributions personify what the Hall of Fame is all about.”
The League’s Awards Committee is also reviewing candidates for the Indiana
Credit Union Hall of Fame and for other League Awards. All award recipients will
be recognized at the Chairman’s Awards Banquet Sept. 15 at the Hyatt Regency
Hotel in Indianapolis. The event is part of the League’s Convention.
