Bruce Ingraham of Beacon CU receives Professional Achievement Award
September 24, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS--- Bruce Ingraham, President of Beacon Credit Union, was presented with the 2007 Professional Achievement Award by the Indiana Credit Union League. The presentation was made at the Chairman’s Awards Banquet on Sept. 15 as part of the trade association’s annual meeting and convention.

Ingraham has worked for the credit union since 1980, when it was called Wabash County Farm Bureau Credit Union, and had $38 million in assets. Today, Beacon CU’s assets total $565 million and it serves 36,000 members. Under Ingraham’s leadership, the credit union has developed a reputation for efficient operations, community service and being a top market leader in dividend rates. Ingraham has lead Beacon CU to another notable accomplishment, as it is the top credit union ag lender in the United States.

“Working for cooperatives my entire career has enabled me to experience the ‘people helping people’ philosophy on a daily basis. It is an honor to have been nominated by our Board of Directors for this recognition and selected by the Awards Committee,” said Ingraham. “I have been very fortunate to have had the support of my staff and directorate over the past 27 years which has provided me opportunities to participate in the local community and credit union organizations.”

In addition to his work at the credit union, Ingraham is on the Indiana Credit Union League’s Audit and Finance Committee, and he is the treasurer of the Cooperative Financial Association, an organization where he has been a board member since 1982 and where he is a past president. He has been a board member at Excess Share Insurance, part of the American Share Insurance (ASI) organization, and he was a board member and served on the supervisory committee at INDICORP, a corporate credit union. In the mid-1980s, Bruce was a member of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions Board.

The Professional Achievement Award recipient is chosen each year from nominees around the state. Individuals are nominated for their professional accomplishments, their commitment to the credit union movement and the contributions they make to their credit union and community.
