Millie Cox's legacy is enthusiasm for the credit union cause and tireless efforts to protect credit union interests by building positive relationships between Hoosier credit unions and state and federal legislators. This annual scholarship award has been established to recognize individuals who embody Millie's ideals by distinguishing themselves through grassroots political involvement and efforts to protect credit union interests. It is awarded annually to the manager of a small credit union to help offset costs to attend CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference. This conference provides the recipient with the opportunity to benefit from the unique educational material provided by this conference. No lobbying activities are required of the recipient of this award.

About Millie Cox
Millie Cox retired as vice president of governmental affairs at the League after 27 years of employment. Cox's work at the League included lobbying at the state and national levels, managing the Indiana Credit Union Political Action Committee (ICUPAC), and providing regulatory consulting assistance to credit unions throughout the state on a variety of issues. She has also volunteered her service by serving on the board of directors of Central FCU.
Indiana credit unions are not the only ones that are grateful for Millie's contributions. She was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by the late Gov. Frank O'Bannon. This is the highest honor bestowed on citizens by the Governor of Indiana. Additionally, the

Indiana General Assembly passed a Joint Resolution in her name April 21, 2003 and remarks in her honor were also entered in the Congressional Record Sept. 4, 2003.
