When Indiana’s credit union pioneers chartered the state’s first credit unions, they probably never dreamed what an important role these not-for-profit cooperatives would eventually play in the financial services industry. But over the years, the movement has grown and prospered by providing millions of people with access to affordable, convenient and safe financial services that, in many cases, could not be obtained anywhere else.
Although credit unions were a unique and welcomed idea, their success didn’t happen without help. The movement flourished because of the dedication and hard work of many individuals who strongly believed in the "People Helping People" philosophy.
The awards programs give us a way to recognize credit unions whose actions support and promote that philosophy and to honor the individuals who have provided outstanding service, guidance and commitment to the credit union movement in this state. Through these awards, we gratefully acknowledge their contributions and pay humble respect to their commitment. This section describes these awards programs in detail.
The League's Awards Committee is made up of several individuals appointed by the League Chairman who volunteer their time to review nominations for the Hall of Fame, Professional Achievement, Leadership Achievement and Emerging Leadership Awards.
