Guest speaker Helen Godfrey Smith, President/CEO of Shreveport FCU in Louisiana, will be speaking on key factors that were integral to her credit union's success and things that she feels are important factors for all credit unions to consider. In addition, topics submitted by attendees will be covered in a roundtable discussion. This roundtable is dues-supported, so there is no fee for you to attend.

Helen Godfrey Smith is President and Chief Executive Officer of Shreveport FCU where she has served since 1983. She has grown the financial institution from less than $2 million in assets to nearly $90 million today. She has opened four full service branches of the credit union across North Louisiana including a corporate office in the Shreveport “Auto Mall” area, including a branch that includes the first Financial Empowerment Center in the community. In 2010, she opened three branches in the Mississippi Delta area (Clarksdale, Marks and Batesville in Mississippi). She has led her credit union to CDFI Status and has received 2 CDFI grants. Mrs. Smith is a huge advocate of higher education and wants all students to have the right to a good education which is why she is Chair of the Grambling University Foundation board and she holds a seat on the board of the Southern University Shreveport Foundation. In addition, she sits on the board of the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce where she is Chair of the Business Development Council. She has been on the Chamber’s board for two years. She is also active in a number of other organizations.
