The Internet is often thought of as the wild, wild west, where just about anything goes. Unfortunately, when it comes to advertising most of the usual regulations still apply, even in the fast-paced cyber world.
Tom Leduc will lead participants through the regulatory maze with an overview of which advertising rules apply to which pages of your credit union’s website, as well as a discussion about some common website compliance violations.

Thomas C. Leduc, Attorney at Law, the Managing Member of the Dearborn, Michigan law firm The Leduc Law Group, PC which provides a wide range of legal services to credit unions and other financial institutions. Prior to starting his own firm in May 2009, Tom spent more than nine years as a named partner at Holzman Ritter & Leduc, PLLC, where he provided diverse array of legal services to financial institutions. Before joining HR&L in 1998, he spent five years as the Director of Regulatory Affairs at the Michigan Credit Union League, where he was primarily responsible for explaining regulatory compliance to, and providing regulatory advocacy for, Michigan’s then nearly 500 credit unions. Before his career as an attorney, he worked for ten years at several credit unions in the Metropolitan Detroit area, holding a full range of credit union positions, from front-line teller to assistant manager. He has also served as a Credit Union Director, and as a member of the Credit Committee, for a southeastern Michigan credit union.
Tom is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan and in the Federal Courts. He now specializes in financial institution regulatory compliance, and he has lectured and written on a wide range of topics including state and federal regulatory compliance, consumer protection, Bank Secrecy Act and bankruptcy law. Among his published works are the Compliance & Marketing Guide and the Consumer Lending Compliance Guidebook, both published by the Credit Union National Association. In May 2009, Tom was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm to serve a three-year term as the financial institution representative on the Michigan Manufactured Housing Commission.
