This session will focus on the challenges facing credit unions and look at strategies to follow in the rapidly evolving area of service delivery and some best practices to help you improve the growth of your organization. The presentation will include discussion of technology vs. branching, changing consumer needs, new competitors, the need for growth, and staying relevant in this fast changing environment.

Do You Speak Millennial? Enhance the Impact of the Generations on Credit Union Revenues, Staff & Profitability

Credit unions have the potential to capture their members’ financial services for a lifetime relationship. The Millennial/Gen Y and Baby Boom are two of the largest generations impacting our credit union memberships today. The growing Millennial/Gen Y mirrors the size of the Baby Boom as the original Baby Boomers have moved into their senior years. At the same time, Gen X is in the prime lending and investing years. This presentation focuses on the strategies to use for capturing and building relationships across all generations.
Plus, staffing of credit unions is being impacted by the same generational shifts.

- Marketing strategies to tap each generation
- Tips on keeping the middle-aged members tied to the credit union

ignite Working Group Presentations
Four groups of “igniters” will preview the innovations they are working on as part of their 2014 activity. Feedback is encouraged from attendees as the groups prepare for the final launch innovations during the League’s October Convention.
Bill Handel graduated from Kenyon College in 1980 with a degree in Economics. He has worked in the financial services industry since that time, primarily as a consultant in the area of Product Development and Management. Since joining the Raddon Financial Group in 1990, he has developed several unique programs to assist financial institutions in the management of their product lines. His knowledge of the financial needs of consumers and businesses, combined with an understanding of how profitability is achieved in the financial services industry, has allowed the development of innovative product development initiatives. He has written several books for the financial services industry in the area of product pricing and product development.
Nicolette Lemmon, President/Founder of Lemmon Tree Marketing Group, has over 30 years of experience in services marketing, sales, and advertising. She is a well-recognized speaker on financial-services marketing. She authored the book, Successful Product Development from Research to Results for the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES), served on the faculty of the CUES Executive Marketing Institute, and has sold hundreds of cross-selling training videos. Nicolette authored another book for the job-seekers market, Almost Famous: How to Market Yourself for Success. Her firm has also formed strategic alliances with several financial industry companies to provide marketing services
Lemmon has served on the faculty of the University of Phoenix. She has received numerous awards including Top 50 Woman-Owned Businesses-Arizona, Top 100 Small Businesses-Arizona by DiverstiyBusiness.com; and she was a nominee for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Arizona, sponsored by Inc. Magazine and Ernst and Young. Nicolette founded LemmonTree Marketing Group, a full-service marketing agency, in 1984, providing virtual marketing outsource, MCIF analysis, CUPowerTracking and market research solutions to clients nationwide. In 2003, with a team of advisors, she created and heads the faculty of the Credit Union Marketing University, a weeklong academically-based program for which students earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from Arizona State University.
