INDIANAPOLIS –INDIANAPOLIS – Attendees at the Indiana League Convention heard from a variety of inspirational, educational speakers during the three-day event (Oct. 15-17), including Indiana’s U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly. A solid credit union advocate and long-time credit union member, Sen. Donnelly’s remarks expressed his overall support for credit unions and their contributions to the citizens of Indiana. Keynoter Brad Karsh also addressed the hot topic of managing Millenials
in the workforce with his presentation “Dude, What’s My Job?”

The convention timing corresponded with International Credit Union Day, an occasion that was marked with celebration, prizes and fun. In keeping with the theme “Local Service. Global Good,” the Convention featured a shoe collection for Samaritan’s Feet, an international organization that also distributes shoes to those in need in Indiana. This was the fifth consecutive year for the Indiana Convention to be a collection point for shoes and monetary donations; during that time span, the equivalent of more than 7,200 pairs of shoes have been collected. Another occasion of note happened during the week of the Convention: Governor Mike Pence issued a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 12-18 “Cooperative Week,” to recognize the value of cooperative organizations like credit unions to the state’s economy.

“It was great to have more than 500 individuals experience this year’s convention,” said League President John McKenzie. “We appreciate all of the attendees, sponsors and presenters who made this year’s event a success.”
