Wednesday, November 12, 2014
INDIANAPOLIS – Randy Glassburn, President/CEO of Ball State Federal Credit Union in Muncie, is the Indiana Credit Union League’s 2014 recipient of the Professional Achievement Award. The presentation was made at the Chairman’s Awards Banquet at the JW Marriott Hotel on October 17 as part of a special event during the League’s statewide convention.

Glassburn has been a part of the credit union business in Indiana since 1985 when he was vice president of operations at Cummins Employees Federal Credit Union, which is known as Centra Credit Union today. He moved to Muncie in 1988 to become President/CEO of Ball State FCU, which was just $20 million in assets at the time. There have been numerous advancements at the credit union over the years including asset growth to $92 million, physical expansion of the headquarters facility and deployment of a variety of products and services to the credit union’s members, who now number more than 13,000. This, in addition to heading projects benefiting community groups such as Habitat for Humanity, United Way and Credit Unions for Kids.

Glassburn’s service to the credit union business is impressive as well. He is a past chairman of INDICORP, Indiana’s corporate credit union, and he was a League board member from 1999-2012, serving as chairman from 2002-2003. He is also the first president of the CUCare Welfare Benefit Plan Trust, a multiple-employer welfare arrangement that began operations in January 2014 to provide group health benefit plans to Indiana credit unions.

Glassburn has been an instrumental contact person between Indiana credit unions and legislators by welcoming legislators at his credit union, visiting them on Capitol Hill and chairing League committees. He is a past chairman of the League’s Governmental Affairs Committee and of the Political Involvement Leadership Advisory Group and a current member of both. His commitment to Indiana credit unions was recognized in 1998 when he was inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame.

Outside the credit union, Glassburn is active with Ball State University activities. He is a member of the Cardinal Varsity Club, and he is a recipient of the Ball State Alumni Association’s Beneficence Award for leadership and service.

The Professional Achievement Award recipient is chosen each year from nominees from around the state. Individuals are nominated for their professional accomplishments, their commitment to the credit union movement and the contributions they make to their credit union and community.
