Vice President of Finance

Vice President of Finance holds a significant role in monitoring the financial health of Financial Builders Federal Credit Union (FBFCU). This individual will have a solid mastery of the financial analysis and budgeting and there interconnectivity to the goals and objectives of FBFCU.

The Vice Presidents of Finance will be responsible to provide analytics to the President–CEO for mitigating risk throughout the credit union’s operations. This will include but not limited to identifying possible financial recommendations in areas of interest rates, regulatory compliance, and investment decisions, along with the cost and benefits of various strategic options.
This position will work in close correspondence with the President-CEO in the development and promotion of sound fiscal practices, procedures and internal controls that align with the credit union’s purpose and mission. The preparation of the annual budgets, financial analysis and other financial forecasting will be an important tasks performed on a timely and regular basis.
The Vice President of Finance will represent FBFCU with integrity and fiduciary excellence. The expectations of the VP of Finance will be to maintain a high degree of professionalism in carrying out their duties.
Asset Liability Management (ALM) meetings will be conducted monthly by the Vice President of Finance. The monthly ALM meeting will be to provide direction to the committee, management team and the board of trustees.  Monthly reporting on budget, goal achievement and income and expense activity will be a part of the reporting process. The resulting findings will assist the board of directors and the top executives in leading in the credit union's decisions, direction and success.
The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight in the following activities of the credit union, including but not limited to:
  • The management of the credit union’s liquidity and cash flow of the credit union’s financial obligations.
  • The prepare documentation for the ongoing maintenance of financial commitments
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to auditors and federal and state examiners.
  • Reviewing and recommending financial products or services that can meet our membership’s financial goals and FBFCU’s financial resources and staff time needed in that process.
  • Report on the progress toward FBFCU’s annual goals established by the Board of Trustees and FBFCU’s management team. Promoting consensus while mitigating organizational risk will be an objective of the Vice President of Finance.
  • Reporting to the President-CEO on the efficiencies of the credit unions programs and procedures and making recommendations as needed. 
The Vice President of Finance will have an excellent understand credit union accounting, regulatory compliance and interest rate risk management and forecasting.
Degree in Finance, Business or Accounting; CPA a plus.
Fifteen years of relevant financial experience with a minimum of ten years in a financial institution or comparable organization and five years in a senior management position. Credit union experience is preferred.
Have excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills with the ability to lead and collaborate ideas with a dedicated team of managers and staff.
Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, especially Excel, and other software that assists in the analytical and reporting requirements.  Possess relevant financial insights for the purpose of strategic planning then developing action steps to move forward with business opportunities.
Position Summary
The Vice President of Finance must possess a broad-based knowledge of the finance, accounting, and investment functions along with a firm understanding of financial regulatory compliance. He or she will possess a strong commitment to operational integrity in the pursuit of excellence. Leadership, vision and analytical rational will be required to fulfill the full scope of duties of this position. The ability to schedule and complete tasks within established time parameters will be imperative.
