Approximately 500 pairs of shoes will be distributed on March 8 at Shepherd Community Center (4107 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46201). The 500 pre-registered children will receive a new pair of shoes and socks and have their feet washed by community volunteers. The event is made possible by Indiana’s credit unions and Samaritan’s Feet International. Credit unions across the state contributed shoes and monetary donations to Samaritan’s Feet so that children who need them most could have a new pair of shoes.

“Indiana credit unions have partnered with Samaritan’s Feet since 2010 to provide more than 7,700 pairs of shoes to those who need them most. There will be volunteers from credit unions at the Shepherd Community Center to personally deliver them at this event,” said Indiana Credit Union League President John McKenzie. “Our annual convention is a collection point and there are efforts to collect shoes and funds at credit unions across Indiana throughout the year.”

"Shepherd Community Center is excited to partner with Samaritan's Feet for a shoe distribution on Saturday, March 8,” Andrew Green, Chief Program Officer for Shepherd Community Center, said. “Through the event, we will be able to bless our younger neighbors with free socks and a pair of shoes; an incredible gif at a critical time of the year."

During the foot washing, volunteers will have the chance the give a message of hope and listen to the dreams of the children receiving the shoes. The child’s physical needs are met through the gif of the socks and shoes and they will leave feeling inspired and encouraged to believe that their dreams can come true.

In 2013, Samaritan’s Feet International managed and worked with partners to host almost 500 events that distributed over one million shoes to children and adults across the U.S. and world, including distributions done in partnership with credit unions in Indiana.
