INDIANAPOLIS – Kevin Kosek of REGIONAL FCU is a 2010 recipient of the Indiana Credit Union League’s Emerging Leadership Award.
Kosek is the director of business development at the credit union, where he has worked for five years. During that time he has championed youth financial literacy issues, and he has been instrumental in organizing and opening some of the credit unions in-school branches. REGIONAL FCU operates nine student-run branches in elementary, middle and high schools in northwest Indiana with an educational element that reaches 8,000 students. Kosek also represents the credit union at public policy meetings and he was an inaugural member of the Indiana Credit Union Leauge’s ignite initiative which focuses on innovative leaders. He is also president of the Valparaiso Kiwanis Club.
“The future of the credit union movement must consist of three things,” said Kosek. “New technology that provides the safest, most cutting-edge experience, products and services that are relevant to young people, and a fearless approach to new directions that can help us and our members steer through economic crises into more prosperous waters.”
The Emerging Leadership Award was developed in order to recognize the next generation of credit union leaders in Indiana for their accomplishments and for their potential to be an Indiana credit union leader in the future. Kosek was honored Sept. 24 during the Chairman’s Awards Banquet, a special event during the Indiana Credit Union League’s annual convention.
