INDIANAPOLIS – Kim Kniola of First Trust Credit Union is a 2010 recipient of the Indiana Credit Union League’s Emerging Leadership Award.
Currently the credit union’s Chief Financial Officer, Kniola came to the credit union in 1983 and has also served as accounting supervisor and controller since then. Under her watch, the credit union has grown from $10 million to $87 million in assets. In addition to her work at First Trust CU, Kniola is a member of the Indiana Credit Union League’s Political Involvement Task Force, she is treasurer for the Dunes Chapter of Credit Unions and she represents the credit union through her volunteer work with a number of area organizations including Junior Achievement, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America and Sharing Meadows.
“Credit unions are a safe harbor and a source for sound financial advice from trusted advisors—credit union have risen up to meet consumers’ needs,” said Kniola. “As banks tighten their lending practices, credit unions will work with consumers to help them during difficult economic times.”
The Emerging Leadership Award was developed in order to recognize the next generation of credit union leaders in Indiana for their accomplishments and for their potential to be an Indiana credit union leader in the future. Kniola was honored Sept. 24 during the Chairman’s Awards Banquet, a special event during the Indiana Credit Union League’s annual convention.
