Rick Silvers accepts his award from League Chairwoman Amy Sink of Interra CU. |
INDIANAPOLIS – Rick Silvers, President/CEO of Centra CU, received the Professional Achievement Award from the Indiana Credit Union League on October 3 during the Gala & Awards Celebration, a special event during the League’s annual convention.
Since becoming President and CEO in 2016, Rick has led the organization through more than 67% organic asset growth. Today, Centra has $2.2 billion in assets, serving over 150,000 members across four states, and has expanded with seven new branch locations—bringing credit union access to communities in Indiana counties that previously lacked a credit union presence.
Rick has championed innovative initiatives, including Centra’s Value Creation Incentive Plan, which shares returns with members, team members, and communities, and Onward, a mission-driven program providing free, bilingual financial education and counseling. Under his leadership, Centra earned the Juntos Avanzamos designation for commitment to Hispanic communities and was named to the Forbes Best Credit Unions list in 2022, 2024, and 2025.
His influence extends beyond Centra through advocacy, mentorship, and service. Rick has worked closely with Indiana’s U.S. Congressional delegation on critical industry issues, served on the Indiana Board for Depositories, and is an active member of the Indiana Credit Union League’s Governmental Affairs Committee. Internationally, he has contributed to credit union recovery and development efforts in Dominica, a project that earned the World Council of Credit Unions’ Distinguished Service Award.
In his community, Rick serves on the boards of the Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation and United Way of Bartholomew County, where he was named Advocate of the Year in 2023. He also hosts fundraisers for local causes, including Turning Point Domestic Violence Services. His leadership continues to strengthen both Centra Credit Union and the credit union movement.
The Indiana Credit Union League is the statewide trade association for credit unions in Indiana. Those credit unions serve more than 2.8 million Hoosiers.
