INDIANAPOLIS – David Brokaw, Board Chairman of Hoosier United Credit Union, is the recipient of the 2025 Leadership Achievement Award from the Indiana Credit Union League. He received the award at the League’s Credit Union Awards Celebration on October 3.

Brokaw has been a dedicated credit union advocate since first joining IU Credit Union in 1979 while a graduate student at Indiana University. His involvement with Hoosier United Credit Union (formerly Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Credit Union) began in 1990, and he has since served on the credit committee, supervisory committee, and board of directors, including multiple terms as chairman.

During his tenure, the credit union has grown from $4 million to nearly $35 million in assets. Dave’s leadership has guided Hoosier United through two mergers, significant technology improvements, and, most recently, a seamless CEO transition where he served as Interim CEO before resuming his role as Board Chairman.

Professionally, Dave retired as Director of Technology Operations at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and also taught Strategic Management in the MBA program at the University of Indianapolis. His academic expertise and industry experience provided valuable insights into strategic planning, financial management, and investment strategies. He often integrated credit union case studies into his teaching, benefiting both his students and Hoosier United.

He is bilingual in Spanish and actively supports Spanish-speaking initiatives at the credit union. He has also represented Hoosier United at numerous credit union education programs and international conferences, further strengthening his commitment to the credit union movement.

The Leadership Achievement Award recognizes credit union volunteers and officials who have given selflessly to promote the credit union ideal and to better serve the credit union movement in Indiana.

The Indiana Credit Union League is the statewide trade association for credit unions in Indiana. Those credit unions serve more than 2.8 million Hoosiers.
