Overview:

At U S Federal Credit Union, we are committed to delivering secure, accurate, and efficient back-office operations to support exceptional member service. The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operational functions and ensuring regulatory compliance, process consistency, and internal controls across all support functions. This position will lead the Operations team and work closely with branch managers, as well as the Compliance and Risk departments, to ensure safe, streamlined, and member-centric service delivery.

Role Summary:

The Operations Manager oversees the credit union’s back-office processing and operational support functions, including ACH, wires, fraud disputes, deceased and dormant accounts, IRA management, and new membership review. This role ensures adherence to policies and regulations, supports system integrity, develops team capabilities, and drives process improvement to minimize risk and improve efficiency.  This position will require movement among our various branches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Operations team, including Specialists and Sr. Specialists.
  • Oversee daily functions including ACH processing, wire approvals, fraud and dispute handling, IRA’s, limit setting, credit bureau disputes, loss claims, and quality control for new accounts.
  • Ensure all operational activities comply with regulatory requirements including NACHA, Regulation E and D, Bank Secrecy Act, and credit union policies.
  • Partner with Compliance and Risk to support BSA/AML efforts, internal audits, and ongoing regulatory reviews.
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers to streamline operational support, maintain the member portfolio, address escalations, and ensure cohesive procedures across locations.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of policies and procedures related to operations.
  • Support technology and system enhancements related to operational processes.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate Operations staff to build capabilities and maintain a high-performing team.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for complex or high-risk operational issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial institution operations or back-office roles.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of ACH, wire transfers, fraud resolution, and compliance procedures.
  • Strong understanding of credit union regulations and operational risk management.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially cross-functionally.
