Reports to: Lending Manager
Position Summary:
The Mortgage Loan Processor supports the credit union’s mission of serving its members by ensuring a smooth, accurate, and timely mortgage loan process. This role is responsible for reviewing and processing residential loan applications while delivering a high level of member service and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and investor requirements. The processor acts as a key partner to loan officers, underwriters, and members, helping guide loans from application through closing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review member mortgage applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Collect, analyze, and verify financial information including income, assets, credit, and employment
- Communicate directly with members to request documentation, provide updates, and answer questions in a professional and service-oriented manner
- Communicate with realtors, title companies, and other third parties to obtain required documentation and ensure deadlines are met throughout the loan process
- Ensure loan files meet all credit union policies, regulatory requirements, and investor guidelines (FHA, VA, Conventional)
- Prepare and submit complete loan packages to underwriting and work proactively to clear conditions
- Accurately document all loan activity within the loan origination system
- Manage pipeline effectively to meet service level expectations and closing deadlines
- Complete all compliance requirements in a timely manner
- Complete other related duties as required or assigned
- Support a positive member experience by demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of mortgage processing or related lending experience preferred
- Knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Strong understanding of compliance standards including TRID and RESPA
- Experience with loan origination systems preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
