INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Credit Union League Board of Directors has appointed Andy Burggraf, CEO of CommunityWide FCU in South Bend, and John Newett, CEO of Indiana Members CU in Indianapolis, as new members of the League Board. They replace two directors who are leaving the board.
Burggraf replaces District 1 Director Jill Banning of REGIONAL FCU, who is retiring. Newett replaces District 3 Director Jason Ford of Harvester Financial CU. Ford’s credit union will soon be merging with Energy Plus CU, whose CEO is also a member of the League Board. Since League bylaws indicate that only one representative of a credit union is eligible to serve on the board, the merged credit union determined that the Energy Plus CU representative will continue on the League board.
Both new directors are accomplished credit union leaders. Burggraf spent more than a decade on the board of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation and is a past chairman; he is a past member of the Credit Union Centers Board, a shared branching CUSO serving Indiana and neighboring states; and he is a current member of the League’s Governmental Affairs Committee.
Newett, also a member of the League’s Governmental Affairs Committee, serves additionally on America’s Credit Unions Advocacy Policy Committee. Both Burggraf and Newett are past board members of the Credit Union Consortium, a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA) that provides medical, dental, and vision benefits to more than 6,000 credit union employees and their dependents in Indiana and Kentucky.
Each will serve until the League's annual meeting in October and will be eligible for election by affiliated credit unions in their districts later this year.
The Indiana Credit Union League is the statewide trade association for credit unions in Indiana. Those credit unions serve more than 2.8 million Hoosiers.
